Gianduja is the Italian word for a mixture of chocolate and hazelnuts. It was invented in Turin during Napoleon’s reign. The name comes from Gianduja, a traditional carnival and marionette character who represents the natives of Piedmont where hazelnut confectionery is popular. Traditionally it is 30% hazelnut, but this luxurious spread is a staggering 50% Piemonte IGP hazelnut!
